1993 – A Landmark Year
The year 1993 marked a turning point in the life of Kostas Kartelias. After years of writing, he entered the public literary world with the publication of his first poetry collection. It was the beginning of a literary journey that would later expand into cultural leadership, publishing and artistic collaboration.
The First Poetry Collection
Kartelias's first collection of poems was published in 1993 by Ferry Boat Editions, under the direction of Yannis Psychopedis. The volume introduced readers to a poetic voice already distinguished by its attention to memory, everyday life and the human experience.
Beyond the Book
The same year brought another important development. Together with George Cheimonas, Kartelias co-founded Alekton, a literary and cultural association in Athens. The organization became a meeting place for literature, visual arts, music and theatre, and Kartelias would serve as its president for more than two decades.
